Neverender Tour in LA [12 Nov 2008|12:02pm]

So last week was Coheed's 4 Night Neverender Show. They played each of their 4 albums in their entirety, along with some pretty epic encores and an additional acoustic set. This was our week in photographs.

Ray, Courtney, Joey, Chris and I headed up Wednesday afternoon to Hollywood, and met Tony up there at the Avalon for the show. Fuck the traffic we encountered. It was ridiculous. I seriously could NEVER live in LA. But yeah, we went to the first night of the show. It was pretty excellent except for the fact that someone ran into me from behind and destroyed my neck. Had to watch in pain from the sidelines for most of the show. Lame. Went back to Tony's house in San Pedro and crashed there.

Next day Tony had the day off, so we all went to Disneyland.

These High School Musical girls were neither good looking, or in high school, so we didn't stay long.

Coheed/LA Week [06 Nov 2008|03:54pm]

wordtowater

Up in LA for the rest of the week. Last night was the first of four nights for Coheed's Neverender show. They were incredible. BUT my night was not. Got hit in the back and it snapped my neck backwards and fucked it up. I spent almost 3/4 of the show by myself trying to support my head and hold my neck in place while watching from the back and off to the side. It was pretty shitty.

This morning I woke up and it was feeling slightly better. It didn't have that pinched nerve feeling I had all during the show. Were here at Disneyland though and out of all the rollercoasters and shit we've gone on today, I just got fucked up again when a stupid boat bumped into ours at the end of Pirates.

So now I'm sitting by myself again, babying my neck that is killing me right now, being pissed off that I'm pretty much gonna spend tonight's show off by myself again, standing still, holding my head in place.

This trip is not turning out to what I hoped it would be. But then again, that seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life right now.

Political Ramblings [04 Nov 2008|07:18pm]

I voted today. As I hope did everyone else who was eligible.

And at the risk of sounding like an asshole, I really hope people learn that they vote every single day. With every dollar they spend. With every action they take.

I think much is lost on a large portion of this population. I think many young people are apathetic. And I think one of the only reasons the Youth Vote may have been more energized this year was because of the blowback from the failure that was the Bush Administration, combined with the charisma of a young, black Barack Obama.

But lets be serious here. Obama is not enough to turn this country around. a Democratically controlled Congress sure hasn't helped. Republicans have failed as well.

The reason our country has gotten to the place that is has is because we have all put too much faith in our government and left it to run itself. There is too much dependency on federal government. Too little understanding of what powers it has claimed. And too few people who actually know what our constitutional rights SHOULD be, as granted by our forefathers.

Our country should be so much greater than it currently is. We have so much more potential as a world leader. A leader that sets an example and inspires others, rather than one who instills fear with its military powers.

We are in an unfortunate era in American History, where our country is ruled by a Corporatocracy. Where the big decisions our government makes serves the interest of the Shareholder before the interest of the Citizen. There is corruption on both sides of this Two Party system. And while you can claim its important to vote for the lesser of two evils, remember that if people took the time to educate themselves, and vote with a little logic and conscience, then we might get to a place where we are happy with our government rather than just a little less pissed than if the "other guy" won.

I am excited to see how an Obama Administration will affect our international relationships and global standing. I am eager to see some serious investment in alternative energy resources. I am curious as to how bipartisan his efforts in office will be. I am nervous to see how his tax cuts will affect small businesses as employers. I am fearful for his safety.

Although I voted as a registered republican this year, I am so glad McCain did not win. He and Palin would've sunk this country even more with their never-ending rhetoric. Funny thing is, had the Repubican party rallied behind Ron Paul, I believe it would have been a MUCH different race. The GOP wanted a puppet. They didn't want a REAL maverick that they couldn't control. They didn't care about true republican values, and a smaller goverment. And in the end, they fucked themselves.

The election may be over. But I will still continue to educate and involve myself in the political process. I am fearful of the world I would be forced to bring my children into if we dont do more to change the course of politics in this country...
